Care. It’s always been our defining philosophy.
It lives in our community of bold and ambitious people who are encouraged to stand up for what they believe in, pursue their goals with tenacity, and drive the change that matters, knowing they have an entire university behind them.
Because a brighter future begins with care.
And that brighter future is here.
Lawyers who care
Studying Law wasn’t abstract for Zahra. It was shaped by watching her parents navigate systems that weren’t built for them. As a child of Iraqi and Palestinian refugees, she saw firsthand how injustice shows up.
Her studies went beyond theory. Grounded in ethics, social justice and real-world impact, they showed Zahra the power that her degree had to make give back.
Since graduating, Zahra has worked with remote communities, supported refugees, consulted for the UN and now works with Women Deliver, the world’s largest gender equity organisation. Across it all, she’s been guided by the belief that care is a powerful catalyst for change.
Engineers who care
Rohit didn’t grow up surrounded by renewable energy, but the idea always stayed with him. In his home of Hyderabad, it felt distant, until a university project designing a solar-powered irrigation system showed him the real impact it could have.
After working for several years as an engineer, Rohit continued to feel the pull of renewables. Murdoch University’s focus on sustainability as a specialisation stood out to him, and from his first day in the lab, he knew he had made the right choice, finding a community that cares for his passion and supported him.
Today, Rohit designs solar and battery systems to support Australia’s energy transition, driven by the belief that change begins when people are supported to act on what they care about most.
Nurses who care
Camille began her Nursing degree wanting to make a difference, but it would be a rural placement in Laverton that shaped her future forever.
Working in a remote, close-knit community showed her that care extends far beyond the clinic. It lives in trust, relationships, and showing up for people every day. The experience sparked a passion for rural health, leading to additional rural placements including with the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Camille followed that passion after graduating, now working in child and adolescent health in Karratha. Guided by empathy and cultural awareness, she supports her community where care is both critical and deeply valued.
Biologists who care
Holly’s pathway to studying Conservation and Wildlife Biology wasn’t straightforward. In high school, she was told working with wildlife would be unrealistic, that her grades weren’t good enough, and to aim lower. She refused.
A preparation course gave her the skills and confidence to succeed Her time at university enabled her curiosity and passion, with dedicated lecturers supporting her throughout. Through unique learning experiences she began to understand what a career in conservation could look like.
Now as a Zookeeper at Perth Zoo, Holly gives the same care that she received during her studies in everything she does, whether it’s supporting animal welfare, championing conservation or inspiring others. Her story shows that belief, support and alternative pathways can change lives.

Teachers who care
Becoming a teacher was never obvious for Jason. He first built a career in environmental management, working with organisations such as WWF, where he developed a talent for explaining complex ideas with patience and clarity.
But through science communication, Jason saw how education could make a lasting impact, not just through sharing knowledge, by building connection. That learning led him back to university to study teaching.
Today, Jason teaches sciences and mathematics, creating a classroom environment where curiosity is encouraged and students feel at home. For Jason, education is about helping young people to grow and learn, and that showing care is a strength.
